Health and Fitness: Progress Report – May 21 to June 13

I spent a few hours at the gym tonight. I have not made a trip yet this week, so I had to play some catch up.

I started out with 30 minutes on the treadmill, alternating a quick walk with a sprint. 1 minute walk, 1 minute sprint. About half way. I did 2 minutes of walking, 1 minute of sprinting and eventually 2 of walking and 1.5 of sprinting. It kept my heart rate at about 136 (within my ideal cardio heart rate and fat burn zone) for the full half hour.

After that, I spent 25 minutes on the stationary bike then about 10 minutes each on the nautilus machines, and abs. I think I did 160 situps…

It has been about 25 days since I started my wedding diet. Let’s call it 24 days, since that was when I posted my first blog on the topic (on my other blog, Neccessary Nerdom).

Anyway…I was gonna do a two week progress report. But I clearly forgot. So how about a three and a half week progress report instead?

Wedding Diet Progress Report:

  • I joined a gym.
  • I have been going at least three times a week.
  • We have gone hiking twice.
  • I have only had fried food once (three small crab rangoons, following our engagement photo shoot, because Mark said we were celebrating).
  • I have had no ice cream.
  • I have had neither hamburgers or french fries.
  • Or onion rings or pizza.
  • I have eaten lots of lettuce…and spinach.
  • Yogurt is practically a whole food group now.
  • I spend a LOT more money on groceries.
  • I go to bed hungry most days.
  • I attended my first ever kickboxing class.
  • I feel like snack all day, but am still always hungry.
  • I rather enjoy the gyms hot tub.
  • I have lost five (or four) pounds (depending on the scale)
  • I started using a sauna. It is hot.
  • I drink meal replacement shakes (on occasion).
  • I miss cake.
  • This is my first before and after shot.

Health and Fitness: Getting My Booty Kicked

Post kickboxing….this picture doesn’t accuratley depict how freaking gross and tired I was.

It’s the hair.

I had my hair styled professionally yesterday for our engagement photos, and since I only wash my hair every other day, the gorgeous style is still holding up.

Even post my intense, actually fell on the floor panting, first ever kickboxing class.

Cardio kickboxing, may I add. And they are not kidding. Five minutes into the class I was trying to find a valid excuse to leave.

I probably only even gave it my all for 15 minutes, but that is only because after a while “my all” felt like I was going to be sick. I am still not in the best shape. But I never gave up, though I may have slowed down, and I still got a really complete work out.

I stuck it out, and I am so glad I did. Though, I doubt I will be in a great condition for work tomorrow. I am already sore. Tomorrow will be 100 times worse.

Well, I am dead tired and I open tomorrow morning at work. But I do get off early, which is exciting…I will be picking up our engagement photos. Yay!

See you tomorrow.

The Digital Nomad: Google Adsense

I promised when I began this blog that it wouldn’t just be a personal blog, or just be a travel blog…but that I would also talk about my dream to make money from home.

Today I took the first step in achieving that goal…albeit, a small step.

I added Google Adsense to my blog.

I am not super happy with the way it looks. I would rather the ads post on a sidebar in widget form, or at least under the posts. I hate that the ads are placed smack dab in the middle of my blog entries.

I have no problem with Adsense, I just wish I could throw the ads in my sidebar. Maybe soon I can find a better plug in that allows me to do that.

Adsense wasn’t really my dream way to monetize my blog. I would much rather have some sponsorship, but I know my baby blog has no chance of achieving that goal so close to it’s inception.

So for now, I will play with Google Adsense. I kept the ads small, and so far they do seem to be keyword related…so that’s good at least.

It has been a long day of engagement photos, wedding planning, and TV watching (what? It’s my only day off). Just finished the season finale of “Game Of Thrones” (It was just okay), and now I am going to watch Paul and fold laundry. Joy.

This is My Tired Face…

Ten hour days are stupid.

I mean, overtime is all well and good. I do enjoy money. But the rest of it is just yucky. My amazing, wonderful fiance cleaned the entire apartment for me, too. Because he knows how stressed I am.

I freaking love him.

I am so dead tired right now. After that crazy long day, I even went to the gym…so I am a little beyond beat.

Engagement photos tomorrow. I will post a sneak peak and wrap up WonderCon tomorrow.

Night!

Our Wedding: Engagement Photos

Yup. It is happening. We are finally getting our engagement photos shot. We have been wanting to do this for a while, and we just never could get it to come together. The best part is that we having them done by my friend Steven of Steven C. De La Cruz Photography.

I am very excited. Mark and I have never had professional photos taken together before. We have a lot of great uses for them already, too. Save the dates, the website, our guest book, and we can bring them to Pennsylvania in two weeks when we head east to plan the wedding.

We are having them taken on Monday in a whimsical park by Steven’s house….and they are going to be themed photos. It is a little odd, but Mark and I are a little odd. The theme or rather, inspiration for the shoot is something that means a lot to both of us. They will be a perfect reflection of the two of us as a couple.

This is a peak at some of his other work.

So excited to see how they turn out!
