Kickoff to Memorial Day

Do you know what I love about Holiday Weekends is Los Angeles? No traffic. At the first sign of an extended weekend, natives to the City of Angels get the hell out of dodge.

It made the workday commute totally bearable this morning and I made it to the store in record time. Buisness was slow, which meant I was able to leave a couple hours early as well.

I used the extra time to stop by the gym. I got in an extremely well-rounded workout before heading over to fresh and easy (my favorite grocery store in Los Angeles, by the way) to pick up a large assortment of healthy grilling food.

We are going to do some grilling tomorrow for Memorial Day, but Mark and I have been trying to eat better foods and get in shape in honor of our upcoming nuptials. I picked up whole portebella mushrooms, skirt steak, two types of chicken, grilling vegetables and a few bottles of sangria.

When I came home I did manage to do a bit of cleaning so I can relax on my only day off tomorrow. Mark made dinner (adobo steak and mussels with steamed green beans and a side salad) while I was in the shower.

It was amazing! We are going to wash it all down with a few glasses of red wine and a few episodes of “Avatar, the Last Airbender.” The new spin off of that show, “The Legend Of Korra,” is so good that is has us craving more. With no new episode of Korra this week, we had to to satiate our hunger for benders in some way.

It has been a pretty wonderful evening, all in all. I am so excited to have tomorrow off with my fiance and our friends. Pool party bbq! Ummm….yes.

Time to get back to Mark and my wine.
